Bobby Trice Hired as Director of Support Services


Boys Home of Virginia is excited to announce the hire of Master Sergeant Robert Trice as Director of Support Services effective June 15, 2017. Trice has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Management and is a licensed practical nurse. Before coming to work at Boys Home, Trice was a medic and LPN in the United States Army for 20 years. He worked primarily as the Chief Clinical Noncommissioned Officer at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. He was responsible for the manning of approximately 1,100 enlisted personnel and responsible for hospital operations for 3,200 staff members to include mass casualty management, staffing, operations orders, tenant unit support, military training exercises, presidential inauguration support and National Capital Region medical support exercises/activities. He also oversaw the execution of a $400 million budget. Robert is a Boys Home alumnus and Boys Home is excited to have him take on this role.

Alumni Chance Davis on Naked and Afraid

Alumni Chance Davis will be on this Sunday’s episode of Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid. Chance is currently working as the Lower School Manager at Boys Home. Learn more about Chance in part 1 of our interview with him. (Part 2 is coming after his episode premieres on Discovery Channel.) We’re excited to have Chance on staff here at Boys Home!

Hilltoppers 2017 Season Review

Perseverance.

You hear the word a lot, thrown around casually through the course of a conversation. It is often used to describe the morale and character of an individual who overcomes hardships and does not waver from their goals. In an individual it is easy to see the results of meeting the challenge. For a team it is much, much harder.

The Boys Home Basketball Team just wrapped up their season with a 10-19 record. While this does not compare well to last season’s breakout year, it did show how well the team overcame a lot of obstacles to get to that point. It wasn’t a tale of one season, but of two.

Quilt Raffle at Boys Home

Boys Home of Virginia is very excited to raffle this beautiful quilt made by Executive Director Donnie Wheatley’s sister, Phyllis Gibson. Phyllis is a very talented quilter and she has made it a tradition to donate handmade quilts to Boys Home each year for us to raffle. Phyllis and her friends Alan and Nancy Kontak also work hard each year to make sure every boy has a handmade quilt on their bed. We’re so thankful for the dedication Phyllis shows by blessing Boys Home and the boys with her talents.

The quilt we’re raffling this year is 96″ x 92″ and is a professionally quilted “Charleston Romance” pattern quilt. Tickets are $5 for 1 ticket or $45 for 10 tickets. We will draw the winner on March 17, 2017. All proceeds will go to Religious Life at Boys Home.
