Our People

Extraordinary people lead the way

For over 100 years, Boys Home has been blessed to have leaders with vision, contributors with heart, staff with energy and commitment, and trustees with a sense of purpose.

The generosity and work of those people have resulted in generations of fine, accomplished alumni, many of whom have given back to Boys Home more than they received.  Learn more about all of these remarkable people below.

Our staff

Teachers

With an experienced teaching staff composed of full-time and part-time teachers, Boys Home is able to offer learning experiences tailored to each student’s needs. A large percentage of our teaching staff is composed of retired teachers from the Alleghany County school system, boasting a combined teaching experience of more than 100 years!

Childcare Staff

Childcare staff are the backbone of our organization. Our houseparents and teachers provide caring adult supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year. Houseparents act as leaders, role models, disciplinarians, friends, and examples. We are truly grateful for the kindness, patience, and generosity they show to the residents every day.

Administration and Support Staff

The hard work and dedication of the administrative and support staff keeps Boys Home running smoothly throughout the year. Administration and support workers are responsible for managing finances, keeping student records, and ensuring that our campus is fully operational.

Trustees

Our trustees guide Boys Home toward a sustainable future. Board members are experienced professionals from various walks of life, as well as several representatives of the Episcopal Church. The majority of board members come from Virginia, while some are located as far away as Texas.

Alumni

Alumni who return to Boys Home as staff members are a testament to our programming. At any given time, there are several staff members who currently serve on staff. Each of these men felt called to give back, and returned to Boys Home as adults. As a result, they are able to offer their experiences and insights to a new generation of young men. In addition, Boys Home has an active alumni association that meets twice each year, and all alumni are welcome to visit at any time.
