Helping Young Men Reach Their Potential
A residential school where young men find structure, support, and a fresh start.
If your son needs more than his current school can offer, you’re in the right place. At Boys Home, young men in grades 6 through 12 find the structure, mentorship, and second chance they need to grow into who they’re meant to be.
Tuition-Free Admission
Boys Home is tuition free for all students who meet our admissions criteria. Cost is never the reason a qualified young man cannot attend.
Who Boys Home Serves
Boys Home of Virginia is a residential school for young men who have strong potential but need a different environment to reach that potential. We serve students who are capable, motivated, and willing to grow, but who may face economic hardship, limited educational opportunities. Many of our students benefit from smaller classes, individualized support, and a structured environment where they are known, encouraged, and challenged.
Our students thrive in a community that provides consistent expectations, strong mentorship, and meaningful opportunities for academic, personal, and character growth. Boys Home is designed for young men who are ready to embrace structure, build positive relationships, and take advantage of the support and opportunities available to them.
We are not a treatment facility. Boys Home is not equipped to serve young men with severe substance use, serious mental health conditions, or complex therapeutic needs that require a clinical residential setting.
Getting Started
To begin, complete the form above and our Admissions Office will follow up. You can also reach us by phone at (540) 965-7739.
Admissions and Orientation
To begin the admissions process, families submit a completed Application for Admission along with supporting documentation. Supporting documents may include the student’s most recent school transcripts, report cards, and/or progress reports, a psychological evaluation (if applicable), a character reference letter from a teacher, counselor, coach, or mentor, and a copy of any IEP or 504 Plan. Additional educational, behavioral, or medical documentation may also be requested to help our team gain a complete understanding of each student’s strengths and needs.
Once the application and supporting documentation have been received and reviewed, the admissions team will contact the family to schedule the next step in the process.
The prospective student and their parent or legal guardian will participate in a virtual interview with the Boys Home Admissions Team. At Boys Home, we take a personalized approach to get to know each applicant individually to determine whether our program is the right fit for his needs and goals. During the interview, families have the opportunity to learn more about our community, discuss expectations, ask questions, and explore how Boys Home can best support the student’s growth and success.
If all parties agree to move forward, the admissions team will coordinate an enrollment date and begin the student’s Orientation period, which typically lasts 15–30 days before he is moved to his long term cottage.
