Boys Home School Kicks Off 2021-2022 School Year

Boys Home of Virginia is proud to share that the start of 2021-2022 academic year at Boys Home school began July 19, 2021.

Director of Education Teresa Johnson shared that the school is in its fourth year. The staff has been working diligently during the summer months to ensure that the students are prepared to start the new school year on the right foot with special tutoring sessions held prior to the start of the first day of classes.

Students eagerly anticipate the new school year as it signals a return to normalcy. This time of year brings with it a renewed sense of family and structure as students return to campus from visiting home, summer camps, and various camping trips.

“We look forward to the start of the school year,” said Executive Director Donnie Wheatley. “I am proud of our school. The level of educational support the students receive is designed to meet them where they are when they arrive at Boys Home and propel them to where they need to be and beyond.”

Johnson added that the school has added two new teachers this year, a Reading Specialist and an elementary teacher. They bring with them a level of expertise that will enhance the educational opportunities for the students. In addition, some Boys Home students will be dually enrolled in college-level courses for the 2021-2022 school year.

“As we transition back to school and a more normal reality, we are looking toward the future of Boys Home, the school, and the success stories that our students are writing for their lives,” stated Wheatley.
