Other Ways To Help

Support for us comes in many forms

Neighborhood Assistance Program

One of several ways to help is to take advantage of state tax credits. Boys Home participates in the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), which provides state tax credits as incentives for businesses and individuals to contribute directly to a nonprofit organization like ours.

Individuals’ contributions are limited to cash or marketable securities. In return for the unrestricted contributions, individuals receive credits that may be applied against their state income tax liability.

Boys Home does have tax credits available at this time.

If you want more information, please contact Sandra at 540-965-7715 or sfscruggs@boyshomeofva.org.

As always, consult your tax adviser for information on tax liability.

Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program

Another way to help is to take advantage of the Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program (EISTCP), which provides tax incentives for individuals wishing to contribute to scholarships at Boys Home. Individuals’ contributions are limited to cash or marketable securities. Tax credit received may be applied against their state income tax liability.

Boys Home does have tax credits available at this time. Please contact Sandra at 540-965-7715 or sfscruggs@boyshomeofva.org before making a donation toward the EISTCP to ensure you get the proper authorizations and credit.

As always, consult your tax adviser for information on tax liability.

The Bishop Jett Fund

This fund was named in honor of the first Bishop from the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, who served on the Boys Home Board of Trustees, and it helps to support the expenses of our Religious Life Program. Donations are used for maintenance and upkeep for All Saints’ Chapel on our campus. And the fund also supports worship resources, religious education materials, church camps and conferences, the Boys Home Singers, and youth group activities.

Visitors to Boys Home see the beautiful oak artwork in the lobby of the Administration Building. This “Tree of Life” is a special way to recognize the generous donors who support the Bishop Jett Fund and continue the legacy of spirituality that is so important here.

To learn more about the fund, or to make a donation, please call (540) 965-7715.

Used Car Donations

Turn your old vehicles into cash for Boys Home! Through a partnership with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides and Services), Boys Home is now accepting donations of used cars, trucks, boats, and RVs.

Here’s How It Works:

 1)     Call toll-free 855-500-RIDE/855-500-7433 or submit the secure online form at  https://careasy.org/nonprofit/boys-home-of-virginia

2)     Schedule Your Free Pick-up: Within 48 hours, one of our Vehicle Donor Support Representatives will contact you to complete the donation and confirm your pick-up information. In most cases, your vehicle pick-up can be scheduled within three business days once the donation record has been completed.

3)     Receive a Donation Receipt. Vehicle donations are tax-deductible! An initial donation receipt is provided at the time of the pick-up. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, donors are also mailed a thank-you letter within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, which serves as a tax receipt. If the vehicle sells for more than $500 and the donor has provided their tax identification number, an IRS Form 1098-C will be mailed to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds (the maximum amount of your tax deduction) received from your donation. For specific tax-related questions, please consult your tax advisor.

To learn more or to get started on your vehicle donation today, call 855-500-RIDE  or visit  https://careasy.org/nonprofit/boys-home-of-virginia. Our Vehicle Donation Support team is here for you seven days a week. It’s always a good time to help a child!

*If you’d like to donate a vehicle in good running condition to be used to transport students, please call Louis Sarratt at (540) 965-7708.
