Boys Home of Virginia Visitor Policy

Purpose

Boys Home of Virginia welcomes visitors while prioritizing the safety, privacy, and well-
being of our residents, staff, and community. This policy outlines guidelines for all
visitors to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

Visitor Guidelines

1. Scheduling Visits

  • All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through the main
    office. Visiting the Tree Farm during the off season must be approved by
    the Executive Director.
  •  Unannounced visitors may not be accommodated.

2. Check-In Procedure

  •  Visitors must check in at the administration building upon arrival.
    A government-issued photo ID is required for verification.
  • Visitors will receive a badge that must be worn at all times while on
    campus.

3. Supervision

  •  Visitors must remain in designated areas unless accompanied by a Boys
    Home staff member.
  • Direct contact with residents is permitted only in supervised settings and
    with prior approval. This applies to the Tree Farm (and any other off
    campus settings.)

4. Behavior Expectations

  • Visitors are expected to adhere to Boys Home values of respect, integrity,
    and responsibility.
  •  Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated and may result in
    removal from campus.

5. Photographs and Media

  •  Protecting the privacy of our residents is of utmost importance.  Photography and videography are not permitted without prior written
    authorization.

6. Duration of Visits

  • Visits are limited to the times and durations approved during scheduling.
  • All visitors must check out at the administration building before leaving
    campus.

7. Emergency Protocols

In the event of an emergency, visitors must follow the instructions of Boys
Home staff.


Special Visit Types

1. Family Visits

Family members of residents are encouraged to visit but must coordinate
schedules with the resident’s assigned advisor.

2. Volunteer Visits

Volunteers must undergo an application and background check process
before being approved to visit regularly.

3. Group Visits

Groups or organizations wishing to visit must submit a request at least 48
hours in advance. Approval is contingent on alignment with Boys Home’s
mission and availability.


Violation of Policy
Failure to adhere to this policy may result in the immediate dismissal of the visit and/or
