Boys Home of Virginia Launches Charitable Hearts Giveback Campaign with Matching Gift Opportunity
Annual Year-End Appeal Supports Residential Program Serving At-Risk Young Men
Covington, VA – November 2025 – Boys Home of Virginia has launched its annual Charitable Hearts Giveback campaign, offering donors a unique opportunity to double their impact through matching gifts from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, Boys Home board members and loyal supporters.
Running through December 31, 2025, the campaign supports daily operations, programming, and student needs at the 119-year-old residential alternative school serving young men ages 6 to 17 from across Virginia and neighboring states.
Double Your Impact: Matching Gift Opportunity
Thanks to generous commitments from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and board members, donations made by mail and online at https://boyshomeofva.org/ will be matched one-to-one by mail and one-to-four online, effectively amplifying the impact of every contribution during the campaign period.
“Donor support allows us to respond without hesitation when a student has a need,” said Asianna Holloway, who works in development at Boys Home. “Every gift ensures that when a need arises, the answer is immediate. It shows our young men that they are cared for, supported, and never alone.”
What Donations Support: A Comprehensive Approach to Student Success
Boys Home of Virginia provides a structured, supportive residential environment on 1,250 acres in Covington, serving young men who benefit from small class sizes, individualized attention, and a comprehensive program that develops students mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Charitable Hearts Giveback donations directly support daily care and operations, including housing, meals, and a safe, stable home environment. Donations fund academic programs with small classes and individualized instruction, life skills training through trades education and outdoor programs, student support services like counseling and mentorship, and ongoing campus maintenance across the 1,250-acre property.
Partnership from First Contact to Long-Term Success
The comprehensive support funded by donor gifts begins before a student even arrives on campus. Boys Home’s admissions process exemplifies the organization’s commitment to partnership and individualized care.
Unlike traditional enrollment procedures, the admissions team invests significant time upfront (through multiple phone calls, emails, and text conversations) to understand each young man’s unique background, needs, and goals before any formal application begins.
“We’re building relationships, not just processing applications,” said Asianna Holloway, who also serves on the Admissions & Recruitment Committee. “By the time a young man arrives on campus, everyone involved (student, family, and staff) shares a clear understanding of expectations and goals.”
This thoughtful approach includes initial inquiry and ongoing communication with families, comprehensive application and committee review, virtual interviews to ensure mutual understanding, and structured enrollment and placement coordination.
The result is stronger placements and more successful long-term outcomes for students. These outcomes are made possible by the donor support that sustains every aspect of the program.
119 Years of Changing Lives
Since 1906, Boys Home of Virginia has provided stability, education, and mentorship to young men who need it most, helping them build confidence and shape brighter futures.
The residential program offers structure and support that extends far beyond traditional academics, including trades training, athletics, outdoor activities, and spiritual life programming. Students benefit from the personal attention and consistent care that only a residential setting can provide.
Recent alumni success stories demonstrate the long-term impact of the program. Israel, who came to Boys Home during difficult times, now serves on the organization’s Board of Trustees, giving back to help the next generation of students discover their potential.
